Everything's coming up roses. Or, this year, businesses. Paris is sprouting new businesses all over.

"We definitely gained on retail," said Pete Kampfer, president of the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. "Since I've been on board we've gone through Tuesday Morning, PETCO, Fastenal, Starbucks ... we're getting more of them.

Asian fusion cooking has as many permutations as there are cooks to prepare it. A Thai restaurant adds salmon to a curry, a California cuisine menu includes an ahi poke appetizer, a Japanese diner tosses fermented soybeans with spaghetti.



At Archipelago, a splashy new restaurant in Burlingame, that translates to French-Filipino. For the entrees, this means a plate based on meat, poultry or fish, with Asian-leaning seasonings and sides - the steakhouse approach to fusion cuisine.

Grand jury indicts 13 alleged members of San Jose street gang







A five-week grand jury proceeding culminated Tuesday with indictments being issued against 13 alleged members of El Hoyo Palmas, described by police as a multi-generation gang that has operated in San Jose for about 30 years.



More than a dozen members of a ruthless NorteƱo street gang allegedly responsible for four murders, several attempted murders and assaults in San Jose are behind bars, the result of a 1 1/2 year-long police investigation
