.

Both are important in their own way; freedom from captivity; freedom from bondage; freedom from religion; freedom from racial

"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty." -Thomas Jefferson

Liberty follows freedom

'Poverty is a great enemy to human happiness; it certainly destroys liberty, and it makes some virtues impracticable, and others extremely difficult' -Samuel Johnson

Freedom of self, freeing the self from its own clutches, or understanding of the inner being is the most difficult thing. The possessions are the impediments and the love of luxury stops one from understanding oneself. Freedom from material possession or 'Dispossession' frees the self to travel at liberty in search of a meaning of the self and the ONE.

setTimeout question

How do you pass variables into a function that is called in setTimeout. anyone?

example javascript code

<script>
function test(val){
alert('ok'+val);
}
setTimeout(test(5),1000);
</script>

The above code doesn't seem to work. what am I doing wrong?

I prefer to not use setTimeout.
Instead try looking up Extjs.com.
Their library has something called DelayedTask which provides what you have asked for. Thanks..

Get your doubts cleared

difference between aliases and pointers in c++

Hi,

I'm struggling to understand the differences between aliases and pointers.
Can anyone help this newbie? Please explain this concept in plain English and include examples if possible. Appreciate your help

Thanks :)

well I'm no expert but aliases offer a way for the programmer to refer to a particular address space using different names (and hence aliases). To take an intelligent guess the compiler will refer to one memory space using various names.

Pointers are slightly different in that a variable refers to a memory space, that contains a different memory space as its value okay?

Go green-The Tree of Knowledge

Digg!

For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver. -Martin Luther

The pipal stands some 70 or 80 feet, grows very big and lives long. It grows quickly and grows into a strong tree and its roots can break even rocks. Some trees in Asia are said to be thousands of years old. It is the 'Tree of Knowledge' for the East. If Buddhism has made it the enlightened tree, Hinduism considers this sacred in many ways. In India it is venerated.

Trees are the first living antiques.

The Tree Of Health

the elders on realizing the healing properties of this tree have made it a habit to have a statue of a god underneath to stop people from cutting down the pipal. Now one can find a host of god-statues underneath every pipal tree.

Berlin Philharmonic catches fire

Published: 20 May 08 14:56 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.de/11985/

Berlin's famed Philharmonic caught fire on Tuesday afternoon, sending huge clouds of smoke into the sky over the German capital.

A spokeswoman said the building had been evacuated. The cause of the blaze was not yet clear, but likely broke out in the insulation between the structure's metal hull and the space beneath it. No injuries have been reported.

The city's fire department rushed to the scene with more than 20 trucks and nearly 200 firefighters, but the spokeswoman said they might need reinforcements. They have also had to remove some of the metal sheeting with blowtorches so water did not simply run down the sides of the structure.
