He calls himself "a recovering venture capitalist," but Thomas Pennell sounds like he might be backsliding. The fast-talking New Yorker had come to Silicon Valley last week for the venture industry's biggest annual confab - and he was heartened by an on-stage conversation featuring two Sand Hill Road superstars.
